Rickie Lee Tanner - Lead Vocals, Rhythm

I've been singing and writing songs pretty much as long as I can remember. I've been blessed to get the chance to perform to crowds numbering in the thousands, and shared the stage with a number of signed recording artists. I'm really excited about fronting Powder Keg, these guys are all stellar musicians and writers. I can't wait to see where this road will lead, and I can't wait to share the journey with all of my friends, family and fans.

Jimmy B. - Lead Guitar, Vocals

I've been playing guitar for over 25 years and am a graduate of Musicians Institute (GIT) in Los Angeles. I've been a part of many bands over the years, especially around the St Louis area. Highlights: Played at the Troubador in Los Angeles (with future country star Rockie Lynne and Doc Walker drummer Chris Sutherland); shared the stage with Chuck Berry; opened for Warrant with local cover band Ivory Tiger.

Recent Highlights, had private lesson with renowned Nashville guitarist Johnny Hiland.  Perfomed at several Open Mic and Writer night's in Nashville

I've written lots of songs and have released a CD and have had airplay. I've played mainly rock music until joining with Rickie Lee in a local country cover band and am now enjoying combining my rock influences with country and doing original material with him and Powderkeg.

Guitar influences: Jimmy Page, Brian May, Andy Summers, Steve Morse, Steve Lukather, Eric Johnson, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Johnny Hiland, Brent Mason, Peter Mayer, Keith Urban and Corey Christiansen. All of my GIT instructors especially: Charlie Fechter, Steve Travato, Bruce Buckingham, Dan Gilbert, Paul Gilbert,  Frank Gambale.   Also can't forget my first guitar teachers: Ron Frede, Andy Ploof and John Scott.

Voice Teachers:  Kevin Ray and Ann Varwig

Songwriter influences: Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Queen, The Police, John Hiatt, Peter Mayer, Keith Urban

Dale Williams - Harmonica / Keyboard / Vocals

I have lived on the Mississippi River for most of my life. I am an avid hunter and fisherman, and have been referred to as the “Fishin’ Musician”. Parent-mandated piano lessons got me started down this road, despite the fact that I fought it every inch of the way. In my teenage years the piano theory helped me teach myself guitar. The harmonica has always held an attraction for me, and I’ve been packin’ one around for most of my life. Really didn’t get the “hang” of it, til about ten years ago; been ridin’ it hard ever since!

My songwriting is inspired by the beauty of nature and the power of love, with a streak of redneck thrown in to keep things interesting.

I am very excited at the prospect of these five individuals, all songwriters, singers and excellent musicians, sharing a common dream. The collective professionalism and intensity are contagious, and I’m proud to be part of it.

Please join us, “Rickie Lee Tanner & Powder Keg”, we’ll have a blast!

Mike T. Horn - Drums / Percussion / Vocals

I’ll start off by saying that I’m a gear head. Anything with a motor and wheels is cool. Which leads me to how I met Rick. Rick came to a car club meeting to talk to us about improving our web site. As we talked he mentioned that he is a singer. Well I’m also a music gear head, so we got to talking about music and told me the name of the group and where he played. I went to a car cruise (1st Friday in Fenton) and his band just happened to be playing the same venue that hosted the car cruise. So I got my first chance to see him perform and was quite impressed. As a matter of fact I wanted to be in his band, but I had to wait my turn, which eventually lead to an audition and I got the gig! Although my music background is mostly from original rock bands, I’ve also played in cover bands too. I’ve played Elvis, Psychedelic, Garage, Country, Jazz and Blues. I enjoy most types of music and have recently grown very fond of traditional Bluegrass. I look forward to getting out there and performing for ya’ll. We plan on “Delivering the goods” Amen!

Thanks for reading this bio, hope we see you at the gigs.

Jake Clayton - Fiddle /Bass / Guitar/ Dobro/ Banjo / Vocals

Twenty-one year old JAKE CLAYTON is known for his friendly face and his kind heart, but he is even more well known for his phenominal fiddle playing and his extraordinary stage presence. JAKE was born in Mexico, Missouri on February 2, 1986 to a loving family that welcomed him with open arms. He is loved by many, but none more than his own family. He was the missing part that added perfect harmony to the Clayton clan. The entire family has always been very musical, but never to the highest level of JAKE's abilities. He has taught his family the true meaning of musical harmony. Jake has been performing for more than 5 years and has already proven himself to be one of the best fiddle players in the music business, but what is more extraordinary than that is his willingness to learn even more about music, and the instruments that he plays, every single day. Did I mention....JAKE plays 25 different instruments.....everything from the fiddle, guitar, banjo, dobro, and the list goes on. JAKE has taught himself each and every one of them. No lessons....No books.....No videos.....every instrument he learned, just by picking it up and playing by ear. He has also taught himself how to read, and write music. JAKE is also a producer. He records, and produces for himself, and others in his own studios. He really does eat, sleep, and breathe music.

JAKE CLAYTON travels the United States performing as a musical extraordinaire. He currently plays with Big Machine Recording artist Jimmy Wayne......but wait....that doesn't keep him nearly busy enough. He also performs at venues in Mid-Missouri doing special performances of his own. JAKE plays music regularly with numerous groups of musicians. He met TNT and The Dynamite Cowboys in 2004 and has enjoyed all of the experiences that have followed, including being an opening act with TNT for artists such as: Gretchen Wilson, Keith Anderson, Trace Adkins, Joe Diffie, Loretta Lynn, Mickey Gilley, Miranda Lambert, Buddy Jewel, and the list goes on. You can catch JAKE performing with TNT and The Dynamite Cowboys in Pittsfield, Illinois at The Ole Red Barn, which is a fantastic, fun filled show for the whole family.

Another group of musicians that JAKE plays with is Iron Weed, a bluegrass group based out of Columbia, Missouri. This group plays the traditional bluegrass style with a little flare. You can see them at lots of hometown venues and community functions in Mid-Missouri.

JAKE also perfoms with Rickie Lee Tanner and his band, Powder Keg. JAKE encountered this group by doing a good deed. A member of the band couldn't make it to a show and at the last minute JAKE filled in as their bass player. It was an immediate “click” for these six guys. JAKE has been playing with them ever since with whatever instrument he feels like, and no matter which one of his 25 instruments he chooses, the result is explosive. The high energy rockin country show that these guys put on is not to be missed.

JAKE CLAYTON isn't about to keep his talents to himself. He is a respected music teacher giving lessons on a weekly basis at Palen Music in Columbia, Missouri. This is where he hopes to spread his passion for music to as many people as he can.

JAKE gives of himself in everything he does. His heart is big, and its made of gold. If you get the chance to see him perform, or just chat about his beloved family, you will see why he is adored by all. He truly is a spectacular person, and an extraordinary musician.

JAKE CLAYTON is THE LORD OF THE STRINGS!

Roy Ulrich - Bass Guitar / Vocals

Rickie Lee Tanner & Powder Keg was formed in mid-2006 by long time friends and band mates Rickie Lee and Jimmy B. The decision was made early on that this time around music would be more rewarding than the monetary gains offered by their previous endeavors. This time writing and showcasing original material would be the true foundation of the band. Writing and performing original material would mean harder work and more dedication than many musicians were willing to take on so the audition process had to be handled with great care. After a few months of auditions and carefully weighing their options the final pieces of the puzzle were put into place.

Rickie Lee Tanner & Powder Keg Songlist

The guys started work on their original material immediately. Releasing their debut single "Highway To Nowhere" in November of 2006. The song found immediate success on Soundclick quickly climbing #1 surpassing nearly 26,000 songs to get there. Soon "Highway To Nowhere" was being distributed by nearly all of the top online retailers including iTunes, Rhapsody, and Napster.

The success of their debut single soon gained the attention of Nashville television shows. Just one month after the song was released the guys were invited to appear on Nashville OnStage, a television show on the ION Network (Formerly PAX TV) based in the country music capital that showcases independent artists and their material. Rickie Lee made another television appearance on Smart Country. Smart Country is hosted by Jimmy and Lorraine Smart and also airs on the ION Network.

The guys will be returning to the studio soon to record their first album scheduled for release in the Summer of 2007.

Rickie Lee Tanner & Powder Keg carry with them years of experience entertaining crowds of all sizes and all walks of life. The shows they put on have to be seen to be believed with energy levels and showmanship to rival many of the top acts in the music business today.
