Chris Kessler
Chris is a “Rocker.” He’s full of musical energy. His energy is exhibited in the way he handles his axe. He doesn’t just play the guitar-he moves with it. He slaps the neck; hammers the notes; pulls the strings; and bends the pitches. He gets into it. And, you’ll get into him and his style.
When Chris was in grade school, he picked up his first guitar. He said, “I fell in love with it then, and have been studying it ever since.” By the time he entered high school, he was the lead singer and lead guitarist in a local band called “Ostracized”. He played all over the state performing original material in many competitions. His hard work helped him win several band competitions in the Midwest, while preparing him to entertain.
Chris also enjoys writing songs. Look for much more than just high-energy, fun-filled rock-‘n’-roll from him in the future. Expect to be entertained by him. He is talented and loves to perform

Tony Buser
Born into a musical family, Tony has been playing guitar and singing all of his life. His love of music led him to play in rock groups during the 1960s while serving in the U. S. Army. He joined up with Robb and Jimmie Perry during the 70s in a band called Red Cloud, later rejoining them in the 90s to form SOJOURNROCKS.
Tony can't stand still when he's performing. His rock style is hard-driving and contagious. Be prepared to be entertained and motivated to move by his fun-filled stage presence. You'll feel his energy as you watch him enjoy performing.

C. P. Hunt
C. P. is the heartbeat of SOJOURNROCKS. His syncopated rhythms, powerful base drumbeat, and flourishes help make the music come alive. He is fun to watch and enjoy.
C. P.’s passion and obsession for drums and music began at a very early age. Before he was 4 years old, he was banging on pots and pans and oatmeal boxes with wooden spoons. Now he is a sophomore majoring in percussion performance at Eastern Illinois University (EIU), playing Premier drums and Zildjian cymbals.
C. P. has had various experiences in music. At EIU, he is involved in the pep band, marching band, percussion ensemble and Latin ensemble with many featured solos. He is past honoree of the Smith Walbridge, Louis Armstrong and John Philip Souza awards. He composed drum line music and taught drum lessons. He is also a member of the local municipal band composed of elite musical talent in the Midwest. He performed in high school band, as well.
C. P.’s enthusiasm for music goes further than just performing. He helps local charity fundraisers. While in high school, he began supporting music in the local schools of Olney, Illinois. By coordinating, helping to set up, scheduling, running sound and promoting the Squirrel Fest, he helped raise thousands of dollars for music programs in the schools.
C. P. plans to attend graduate school at Berkley School of Music in Boston, Massachusetts upon completing his undergraduate work at EIU.
BIOGRAPHY
SOJOURNROCKS-The Rock ‘N’ Roll Journey was formed in 1998. The original members were the Perry brothers: Robb and Jimmie; Dave Niemeyer; Tony Buser and Derek Dallas. Tony had performed with the Perry brothers in the 70s in a band called Red Cloud. Robb, Jimmie and Tony are the main vocalists in the group. Instruments in the band include: Robb on the bass guitar, Jimmie on keyboards, Dave and Tony on lead guitars and Derek on drums. In 2002, Derek left the band and was replaced by Ray Mietus on drums. Ray was a student at Eastern Illinois University (EIU), majoring in percussion. Ray completed his undergraduate degree at EIU and left the band to continue his education at the University of Iowa in August of 2003. Derek rejoined the band briefly after Ray left for Iowa. Then, in the fall of 2003, C. P. Hunt joined the band as the drummer. C. P. was also a student at EIU, majoring in percussion performance. In the fall of 2003, Dave Niemeyer left the band and was replaced briefly by Wes Feaster. Then, early in 2004, Chris Kessler, long time friend of C. P. Hunt, joined the band as lead guitarist. When it comes to singing, Robb, Jimmie and Tony can do it all. They blend their voices in three part harmonies that make audiences sit back and take notice. Robb amazes everyone with his ability to belt out songs without missing a note on the bass guitar. It seems as if Jimmie could sing almost any song, and do it all night long. His vocal range and volume is something to behold. And, you can’t help but get into the songs that Tony sings. His ability to sustain a note at pitch will get your attention and keep it. He sings with a lot of soul. Chris and C. P.’s friendship, youthful enthusiasm and musical camaraderie are elements that seem to complete the group. They help pull it all together. Chris is a hot guitarist. He plays with a lot of style. Wait until you hear his riffs and licks. He plays everything from AC/DC and Areosmith to SRV and ZZ Top, just like the record. C. P. keeps everything in sync. His beats and flourishes emulate an artist as if the artist was there himself. It is as good as it gets! When you hear him play tunes by the Doobies, Doors or Wild Cherry, you’ll know what I’m talkin’ ‘bout. SOJOURNROCKS was formed in order to provide professional, high quality music for discerning audiences. They use state-of-the-art sound and lighting equipment that has been tested and proven road worthy. The members chose to perform the best classic rock hits of the decades, as well. They cover the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and today’s hits. Trendy genres such as grunge, hip-hop, rap, etc., really don’t fit into their repertoire. All five members of SOJOURNROCKS play their instruments and sing with the spirit that comes from within them. They learn the lyrics and instrumentation, and perform it for you like you expect it to be performed. You’ll hear the hits just as you remember them. And, they understand the type of music that makes you get up and dance, tap your toes or sit back and listen. They are committed to “playin’ the hits” and “bringin’ back the memories.” So, if you want the best rock show that you can get, get Sojourn! You’ll be glad you did!! |
